St. Andrews Church is believed to date from the 14th Century and is one of only three in the country to feature a tower as well as a spire. The Church was given instructions by an 18th century landowner to distribute food known as "Dobbin" bread every February to the poor of the village This tradition still continues today but the recipients are now children of the local primary school.

A recently introduced event is the annual scarecrow trail held in April, whereby villagers display homemade scarecrows outside their houses depicting a nominated theme and passers by have to guess the characters for the chance to win a prize
